Kymera Magic Wand: Live Your Harry Potter Fantasy While Watching TV

Calling all Muggles. Have you ever wished you could just turn on your TV while sitting down with some magical device? Well I guess that’s already been done, but I bet you wished you could look like Harry Potter while doing it – and now you can. Introducing the Kymera Magic Wand, a gesture controlled learning remote from The Wand Company.
The Kymera Magic Wand is limited to only 13 unique gestures meaning that you are pretty limited in your ability to control many functions or devices. Unlike the much more capable Phillips’ uWand and LG’s Magic Motion Remote, the Kymera doesn’t have any on screen indicator or ability to control a cursor. Instead you assign functions to gestures like rotate, flick, push, pull, and taps. Users have to teach the wand these commands by programming it with their preexisting remotes, which is pretty simple considering there aren’t many functions to program.
This of course is not a real (or magical) solution for anyone who is serious about their home entertainment or doesn’t like swinging their arms and saying hocus-pocus. With that said, this would be a fun gadget for kids, wizards, witches, and warlocks alike — but with the Kymera Magic Wand set to start making magic October 1st with a £50 (GBP) price tag, I’m not sure if its magical enough for me.

Harry -- is that you?
